The Princess Tea: Victorious Warriors Arise

I absolutely love attending the Princes Tea at my home church in Chicago, IL. I am amazed at how beautiful the room is decorated and how lovely the young ladies are dressed. This year the room was decorated with butterfly centerpieces and the anticipation was high for all of the parents and friend sof the youth that gathered. , the you ladies ages 4-18 present themselves to their friends and family.

What does it take to be a Princess Warrior in an age where young women have to fight off bullies if their skin color is too dark, or their glasses are too big, or they don't want to be talked about because of their gender? I can remember being the "chunky" little girl with the mushroom hair cut that the guys in the class wanted to hit. i learned only on that I had to fight. If I did not want to be mistreated by my school friends I would have to stand up to those who thought that I was a push over.

Here are a few things to remember.

God uses PECULIAR people to do amazing things. Do you know the story of Esther? She was a foreigner to the land of Persia, a Jew, adopted by her uncle Mordecai and told to hide her identity so that she could be chosen to be the king's wife. This was not a real problem until her uncle stirred up some trouble with the king's right hand named Haman.

Do you remember the Four Little girls in Montgomery that catapulted the Civil Rights Movement of the sixties?

Addie Mae Collins, Denise McNair, Carole Robertson and Cynthia Wesley, are four African-American girls between the ages of 11 and 14 who had been attending the church's Sunday school, and they were killed in the blast at 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. It was the meeting place for the civil rights leader including Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. catapulted a movement because of their innocence and age.

The movie Black Panther demonstrated to the world the power of Black people. Not only were they superheroes with great industrial designing minds, but they were fighters and innovators, not easliy broken, nor bossed by others. They were problem solvers, leaders and servants who were intolerant to injustice.

God's Plan is My Plan

Drake sings a song about "God's Plan." God word came through the prophet Jeremiah affirming that the people of God were not mistakes or strangers. 11 "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." Jer 29:11

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." Rom 12:2

You are God's masterpiece, a young lady crafted in the image of God filled with beauty and strength. You dont have to cower down to the outside voices of the world that say you are not good enough. You are not shaped to fit inside a box, nor crafted to be touched inappropriately by by anyone. You are enough! You are Royalty!
