Youth Ministry is the lifeline to every church and ministry work. The reality is that Reality TV and social media influences the behaviors and mindsets of so many young people. The real question is how can youth ministries serve as disruptors to this pervasive influence and effectively reach and engage the next generation of Church leaders? Destined For Purpose
Rev. LaShondra K. Stephens is the Director of the Multimedia Communications Department at Trinity United Church of Christ. She has significant experience in Communications and Marketing, event management, branding, organizational development, and innovation.
Rev. LaShondra holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Chicago State University, a Master of Arts in English, with a focus on Scriptwriting for TV and Film from Morgan State University. She also earned a Master of Divinity from McCormick Theological Seminary in 2016 and was awarded the Marshall Scott Urban/Labor Ministry Award. In 2023, she was awarded the Leader of Excellence Award from The Something Good in Englewood team while serving as the District Director for the IL-32nd District and State Representative Cyril Nichols. In 2024, Rev. LaShondra was the recipient of the Crescent Moon Award in the area of Ministry from the men of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Upsilon Sigma Chapter.
Fascinated by her mom’s tv studio as a child, Rev. LaShondra decided to learn more about TV production and various facets of media. She is the proud daughter of 2 Chicago Public School educators who instilled in her to never stop learning. Rev. Stephens began her media career interning at WBFF Fox 45 News in Baltimore, MD and working on documentary films with the Multimedia Department at Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD.
An ordained minister, Rev. LaShondra is a creative leader with a unique eye for Digital Media and Ministry. She has served over 20+ years in ministry. Rev. Stephens has worked as a Production Assistant and Freelance event planner on several events with prominent community leaders. She has trained ministry leaders, helped to organize conferences and retreats, assisted with branding for elected officials, and served as an associate producer for the Emmy nominated show, Different Drummers. Rev. Stephens worked as a Business Development Administrator at the Illinois Institute of Technology and as the Social Media Manager for McCormick Theological Seminary. In addition, she served as an Assistant Pastor at the Apostolic Church of God for 8 years and made history as the youngest woman Assistant Pastor. In everything she does, Rev. LaShondra’s goal is inspiring hope and sharing Christ.

Rev. LaShondra Stephens is a critical thinker and planner who has over 20 years in ministry experience. She knows by experience how God can take little and multiply it for His glory. Rev. Stephens has served in several areas of ministry from her early call at age 9. She has been teaching, preaching, organizing worship services and singing throughout the world. Rev. Stephens has worked in TV and Film production and Radio Promotions, served as the Social Media Manager for McCormick Theological Seminary and even as an on-air host for the Emmy Award winning show Different Drummers. She is a world traveler and blogger and loves to affect change wherever she goes.
Rev. LaShondra is a second generation preacher who follows in the steps of her parents Deacon Aaron Stephens and the late Evang. Verneda Stephens. They taught Rev. LaShondra to love learning especially since they were dedicated educators themselves. Rev. Stephens earned a Master of Divinity from McCormick Theological Seminary, where she was awarded the Marshall Scott Urban/Labor Ministry Award. She received her Master of Arts in English from Morgan State University and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Chicago State University.
Her ministry focus is to help cultivate the spiritual growth of the believer through Biblical knowledge and understanding. With her love for God and the Performing Arts, she provides compassionate care to God’s people. She is currently serving as the Director of the Ministerial Alliance and Assistant Pastor of Chicago's Apostolic Church of God.
